COOK, Co. E. 7th Conn., proved himself to be a good soldier. In the severe fighting at Deep Run, Va., Aug. 16, 1864. he was especially commended by his captain, John Thompson, then commanding the regiment. Again in the difficult advance of Oct. 27th of the same year, led by General Butler, on the Darby town road, his bravery and good judgment were conspicuous, and for these he was urgently recommended by Butler for promotion.
