B, 28th Conn., had been residing in Stamford for a few years, and when he volunteered was engaged as keeper of the Cornucopia Restaurant. He was a resolute and courageous soldier and officer. One of the detail for the assault on Port Hudson, of June 14, 1864, he fell almost immediately on the sounding of the charge, while urging on his men. His remains were recovered under a flag of truce, and buried near the picket fence.
