Stamford Soldiers' Memorial 1869
  WILLIAM LOWA, Co. D, 6th Conn., was one of our first to fall in the desperate
assault on Fort Wagner, July 18, 1863. He left a wife and children here. One of
the children has been provided for at Fitch's Home in Darien.
