MCDONALD, brother of Mrs. H. B. Lum, enlisted in the 82d N. Y. Volunteers for three months. He then re-enlisted for three years and was promoted orderly sergeant. He was wounded at Fair Oaks, May 31, 1862, and promoted 1st lieutenant for gallant service. He led his company in the fearful conflict of Gettysburg, and on the third day of the fighting, July 3, 1863, he fell on the battle field. His remains were afterwards brought to Stamford, and now lie in the Woodland Cemetery here. His brother Oliver was also in the service for more than three years, in one of the Pennsylvania regiments.
