Stamford Soldiers' Memorial 1869
  GEORGE W. WILMOT, Co. C, 28th Conn., son of Theodore Wilmot. The third day
after the assault on Port Hudson, June 17,1863, as he was going out from his
rifle pit to get a drink of water, he was shot through the heart. His remains
were buried at Port Hudson.
