It is always best to consult the original material for verification. ************************************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Cheryl Harmon Bills cherylbills@gmail.com May 29, 2007, 2:07 pm Suffield; Second Division Written: September 13, 1718 Know all men by these presents that I, Nathaniel Harmon the 1st, of Suffield in ye county of Hampshire in his Majesties province of ye Massachusetts Bay in New England with the free consent of Esther, my wife, diverse, cause and considerations me hereunto moving: But especially for and in consideration of a valuable sum of money to me in had paid by Samuel Smith Second of this town county and province aforesaid: the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself therewith fully satisfied: Have given, granted, bargained, sold, made over and confirmed unto the said Samuel Smith, his heirs and assigns forever: All my right, title, interest, challenges, Claims, or demands to the one half the common rights belonging to a fifty acre allotment granted by ye Committee for the Settling of the Town of Suffield to John Severance sometime of Suffield, now of Deerfield in the County of Hampshire. Together with the one half of twenty-five acres of Second division land and half of twenty five acres of land granted by the town and proprietors of the Common Land in Suffield belonging to said grant, with all the privileges ye could any way have accrued unto said severance by virtue of said grant: To have and to hold siad commonage or common rights with the grants and divisions of land above as it lyeth within the township of Suffield to him, the above said Smith, his heirs and assigns forever; and to his and their own proper use and benefit, quietly and peaceably to profit and enjoy forever without interruption, disturbance, or molestation from me or my heirs or any person or persons in, by, or under me and in testimony hereof I, the said, Nathaniel Harmon and Esther my wife have hereunto set our hands and seals this thirteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighteen. Nathaniel Jr. and Esther Harmon [1718] [NOTE: This is the same person as Nathaniel the Second according to earlier deeds; but by this time, Nathaniel, the father, is deceased and now, Nathaniel the Second has become Nathaniel the First and he has a son named Nathaniel. #1 Nathaniel married Mary Skinner; #2 Nathaniel married Esther Austin; #3 Nathaniel married Elizabeth Bridgeman.
