Andrusis Sr., passed away peacefully Saturday, April 21, 2001, after a brave and long battle where she consistently beat the odds. She was firm to her beliefs and was a caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born on April 23, 1925, in Manhattan, N.Y., daughter of Martin and Jessie (Greenwald) Van Hoven. She was formerly employed by the Yellow Cab Company and Dial-a-Ride of Hartford as an office manager before retiring in 1983. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with her friends and family. She lived in South Windsor for 39 years and was a member of the South Windsor Senior Citizens. Lila is survived by four sons and a daughter-in-law, and four daughters and a son-in-law, Robert Wright of Hollywood, Calif., Judy and George Malina of Amherst, N.Y., Patricia Brescia of Menlow Park, Calif., Sharon Wright of Saco, Maine, Richard Wright of Manchester, Charlotte Andrusis of South Windsor, Alex Andrusis Jr. of Johnstown, N.Y., and Scott and Susan Andrusis of South Windsor. Lila also leaves her nine beloved grandchildren, Gary, Michael and Jason Malina, George and Todd Brescia, Tom and Colleen Wright, Cory Andrusis and Alexander Andrusis; a brother, David Van Hoven of Staten Island, N.Y. The funeral service for Lila will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the funeral home.
