Armstrong, 71, of Manchester, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born July 15, 1929, in Manchester, son of the late William and Catherine (Moore) Armstrong, and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester. He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 2046, the Army & Navy Club, and the American Legion Post No. 102. Prior to his retirement he had been a pipe fitter with Jensen Manufacturing for more than 15 years. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Denise Armstrong of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Patrick and Susan Armstrong of Wales, Mass.; three brothers, Russell Armstrong, Edward Armstrong, and Alexander Armstrong, all of Manchester; three sisters, Rosemary Wilson of Waterford, Anna Mae King of Manchester, and Charlotte St. Peter of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Ashley Armstrong of Wales, Austin Armstrong of Port St. Lucie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be private in the Buckland Cemetery, Manchester. The Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, has care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Manchester North Unit, Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
