She was born in Tinmouth, Vt., March 6, 1906, daughter of the late Walter and Charlotte (Davis) Mason. She was a resident of Starksboro, Vt., where her heart will always remain, and had lived in Elmwood before moving to Manchester in 1952. Mrs. Ather had worked for many years at New Departure Machine Co. of Elmwood and retired from Royal Typewriter Inc. after 26 years with the company. She is the beloved mother of three sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Glenda Tarr of Earlsboro, Okla., Roger and Priscilla (St. Pierre) Ather of Manchester, and Raymond and Jane (Ashton) Ather of Bolton; as well as many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the youngest of 12 children who all predeceased her. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, in the Green Mount Cemetery in Starksboro. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main St., Manchester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut Inc., 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066, or to the South United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1226 Main St., Manchester, CT 06040.
