George Washington Munroe, colored, son of Jonathan Munroe, an inhabitant of your town, about 17 years old, is on expense. Oct. 26, 1843: Lebanon to North Stonington. A colored female who calls her name Zilpha Nedson is sick and on expense. Jan. 22, 1844: Franklin to Lebanon. A colored woman named Jenny or Ginny is on expense. Jan. 30, 1844: Lebanon to North Stonington. A colored woman named Zilpha Nedson has been on expense about 14 weeks. July 16, 1844: Lebanon to North Stonington. Colored woman named Zilpha Nedson still here on expense. July 29, 1844: North Stonington to Lebanon. Zilpha Nedson is not an inhabitant. She belongs to the Pequot tribe of Indians in the Town of North Stonington, and I presume the overseer to the tribe will acknowledge her. Aug. 1, 1844: Lebanon to Elias Hewitt, Overseer of the Pequot Tribe. Concerning Zilpha Nedson. Jan. 14, 1846: Norwich to Lebanon. The family of James Walmsley, colored, is on expense. The husband, James Walmsley, is now on a voyage a whaling. The family have been sick and lost one of their children. The town has furnished a coffin for the child and a small load of wood. Feb. 24, 1846: Franklin to Lebanon. Edmond Hazard and child. colored, are on expense. Mar. 3, 1846: Lebanon to Franklin. Edmond Hazard is not an inhabitant. June 27, 1846: Preston to Lebanon. A colored woman by the name of Lucretia Hardy or Heady is on expense. She is in the vicinity of the toll bridge from Norwich to Preston. (Lebanon denied her as an inhabitant.)
