Brown buwbrown@comcast.net October 13, 2008, 11:28 am John Whitcomb, an early settler in Colchester, was the son of Job Whitcomb of Wethersfield, Connecticut, and grandson of John and Frances Whitcomb of Lancaster, Massachusetts. In 1707, he purchased a home lot on Town Street (now Old Hebron Road) in Colchester, thus becoming a pioneer in the town's settlement. He married Mehitabel Dunham Feb. 15, 1715/6 (Colchester Vital Records)and his stay in Colchester is documented in the land and vital records of the town.
