Jan. 3, 1843: Lebanon to Hartford. Jane or Jenny Barber is not an inhabitant. She was born in Lebanon but subsequently married a man who was a native of Groton, but at the time of their marriage he resided in Franklin and continued to reside there several years, probably sufficient length of time to gain a settlement. Since Genny's marriage with Barber, she has spent but little time in Lebanon. Jan. 16, 1843: Windham to Lebanon. Ransom Perry has not gained a settlement here. Mar. 6, 1843: Lebanon to Colchester. Bill for support of Mary Perry and 2 children. Mar. 7, 1843: Vernon to Lebanon. William Bodge is on expense. Mar. 13, 1843: Lebanon to Vernon. William Bodge is not an inhabitant. Apr. 7, 1843: Chatham to Lebanon. Carile Scovell never gained a settlement in her own right in Chatham but holds one in East Haddam under the right of her father, he having gained settlement by six years residence after he left Chatham. May 8, 1843: Colchester to Lebanon. Settled accounts concerning Ransom Perry case. Sept. 5, 1843: Coventry to Lebanon. Charlotte Rogers, widow of Lovel Rogers, is on expense. Oct. 8, 1843: Hartford to Lebanon. George Washington Munroe, colored, son of Jonathan Munroe, an inhabitant of your town, about 17 years oild, is on expense. Oct. 16, 1843: Lebanon to Hartford. George Washington Munroe is not an inhabitant. Oct. 16, 1843: Lebanon to Chaham. Bill of Carile Scoville's support from Jan. 1, 1842 to Apr. 1, 1842 and for funeral for her child. Oct. 26, 1843: Lebanon to North Stonington. A colored female who calls her name Zilpha Nedson is sick and on expense. Nov. 2, 1843: Bozrah to Lebanon. Ellem Simmons and Josiah Simmons are on expense. Dec. 29, 1843: Norwich to Lebanon. A boy about 13 years old, with red hair, calling his name George Brown and says his father's name is Henry Brown and that he was born in Lebanon, was found yesterday in the street in necessitous circumstances and is now in the Norwich alms house. Jan. 22, 1844: Franklin to Lebanon. A colored woman named Jenny or Ginny is on expense. Jan. 30, 1844: Lebanon to North Stonington. A colored woman named Zilpha Nedson has been on expense about 14 weeks. Feb. 28, 1844: Colchester to Lebanon. Mrs. Margaret Mosier is on expense. Feb. 29, 1844: Lebanon to Sharon. Bently White came to Lebanon about 4 weeks ago in a suffering condition and is on expense. We will endeavor to deliver him to you in Sharon. May 6, 1844: Lebanon to Sharon. Bill for support of Bently White Feb. 29, 1844-Apr. 4, 1844. Sharon paid the bill June 3, 1844. July 16, 1844: Lebanon to North Stonington. Colored woman named Zilpha Nedson still here on expense. July 29, 1844: North Stonington to Lebanon. Zilpha Nedson is not an inhabitant. She belongs to the Pequot tribe of Indians in the Town of North Stonington, and I presume the overseer to the tribe will acknowledge her. Aug. 1, 1844: Lebanon to Elias Hewitt, Overseer of the Pequot Tribe. Concerning Zilpha Nedson. Sept. 5, 1844: Colchester to Lebanon. Eliza Chapman, wife of Griswold Chapman, and her 3 children ae on expense. Sept. 26, 1844: Lebanon to Colchester. The wife and children of Griswold Chapman are not inhabitants of Lebanon. Dec. 10, 1844: David L. Dean is on expense. They need only wood to enable them to get through the winter. Dec. 23, 1844: Colchester to Lebanon. An account is in my hands v. your town in favor of Peleg Simpson. Dec. 30, 1844: Colchester to Lebanon. Caleb Beckwith is on expense. Jan. 4, 1845: Prudence Jordan, John Jordan and Burt Jordan are on expense. Jan. 13, 1845: Colchester to Lebanon. Caleb Beckwith is now at the house of Julius Thomas, sick and on expense, and it is doubtful whether he will recover. Mar. 20, 1845: Bozrah to Lebanon. Christopher Crumb is on expense at the house of Morgan Mott. Apr. 1, 1845: Columbia to Lebanon. Susan Hyde, daughter of Olive Hyde, is on expense at the house of Christopher G. Champlin in Columbia. June 24, 1845: Lebanon to Groton. Bill for funeral expense of Elisha Stark, son of John Stark of Groton, said Elisha never having gained a settlement in any other town since leaving Groton. July 16, 1845: East Haddam to Lebanon. Mrs. Hills, wife of Horatio Hills, who recently died in Lebanon, has recently called on me in regard to the clothing of Mr. Hills, which was taken by Mr. Carpenter, who has the charge of the paupers. The clothes are worth but perhaps $10., but she would like to have them. Jan. 14, 1846: Norwich to Lebanon. The family of James Walmsley, colored, is on expense. The husband, James Walmsley, is now on a voyage a whaling. The family have been sick and lost one of their children. The town has furnished a coffin for the child and a small load of wood. Feb. 24, 1846: Franklin to Lebanon. Edmond Hazard and child. colored, are on expense. Mar. 3, 1846: Lebanon to Franklin. Edmond Hazard is not an inhabitant. Feb. 25, 1846: Colchester to Lebanon. Amasa Hyde, wife and family are on expense. June 27, 1846: Preston to Lebanon. A colored woman by the name of Lucretia Hardy or Heady is on expense. She is in the vicinity of the toll bridge from Norwich to Preston. (Lebanon denied her as an inhabitant.) July 9, 1846: Lebanon to Bozrah. Aaron Mitchell, wife and 2 children are on expense. July 3, 1846: Chaplin to Lebanon. David S. Dean and wife are on expense. Nov. 7, 1846: Lebanon to Bozrah. Bill for support of Aaron Mitchell, wife and 2 children from July 9 to July 18, 1846 Nov. 25, 1846: Torrington to Lebanon. Henry Wattles is on expense and unable to labor. He is a shoemaker by trade. His father is dead and his mother lives in Granby. He has been from place to place since he left your town and never gained a settlement in any other town. Nov. 27, 1846: Torrington to Lebanon. Asa Wattles has been sick and on expense; he has since died. Nov. 30, 1846: Lebanon to Waterford. Hannah Beckwith, wife of Elisha Beckwith, is on expense. Dec. 8, 1846: Jesse Harvey of Lebanon to Town of Lebanon. The wife of Rufus Riley, with her child, is now at my house. The woman is sick, and I have called on the selectmen of Colchester, and they will not do anything without a letter from the selectmen of Lebanon. Dec. 9, 1846: Phebe M. Riley and child, wife and child of Rufus Riley, and Hannah Beckwith, wife of Elisha Beckwith, are on expense. Dec. 17, 1846: Colchester to Lebanon. We expect to support Phebe Riley. Hannah Beckwith is not an inhabitant of Colchester; she is probably an inhabitant of Waterford. Dec. 21, 1846: Lebanon to Torrington. About 30 years ago there was a person by the name of Asa Wattles in this town, a shoemaker by trade. We will pay his expenses. We have not identified any person by the name of Henry Wattles. Is he the same person? Dec. 29, 1846: Torrington to Lebanon. There is no such man as Henry Wattles, this being a mistake by one of our selectmen for Asa Wattles. Asa was a very short man and a shoemaker. He has been around here many times but has gained no residence. Dec. 29, 1846: Hezekiah Thomas and family are on expense. Jan. 4, 1847: Lebanon to Torrington. Lebanon paid the bill for Wattles. Feb. 10, 1847: North Stonington to Lebanon. Nabby Avery, widow of Isaac Avery, is on expense. We notified Colchester on Jan. 29th last, and they say she belongs to Lebanon, as they owned property in Lebanon near the Colchester line. Mar. 4, 1847: Lebanon to North Stonington. Nabby Avery not an inhabitant of Lebanon. Mrs. Daniels, daughter of Mrs. Avery, now residing in Bozrahville, informs us that since her father's death her mother lived with her steadily for seven years in the town of Windham. Mar. 19, 1847: Hartford to Lebanon. Luther Harris, aged about 50, is on expense. No date: Lebanon to Colchester. Bill for supporting Phebe M. Riley and child 2 weeks. Apr. 2, 1847: Luther Harris not an inhabitant of Lebanon, he having received assistance by having his taxes abated while residing here. Feb. 15, 1847: John Taylor sick on expense; in opinion of his doctor he is too sick to be moved. Mar. 8, 1847: Henry Otis of Lebanon to Selectmen of Lebanon. To notify you that James Peckham and his wife, inhabitants of no town in this state, are living in my house. Apr. 19, 1847: Norwich to Lebanon. Delight Snow, wife of Edward Snow, was sent to our alms house last February. Supposing that they belonged to Windham, he notified that town; overseer of poor in Windham informs us that they belong to Lebanon. Apr. 27, 1847: Avery Bill of Lebanon to Town of Lebanon. Enclosed two dollars in payment of charge against Town of Bozrah on account of Mitchell children while they were in your town; request receipt. May 7, 1847: Lebanon to Norwich. Have made inquiries concerning Edward and Delight Snow and are unable to learn anything. May 7, 1847: Lebanon to Bozrah.
