Benjamin Filmore is on expense. Jan. 17, 1853: Lebanon to Bozrah. We cannot find that Benjamin Filmore belongs to this town. It appears that his father was supported to some extent in this town and his expenses were paid by Salem. Mar. 1, 1853: Colchester to Lebanon. Bill for expenses for Daniel Hyde. He is still unable to support himself but is well enough to be removed. Mar. 2, 1853: Lebanon to Norwich. William A. Collins, Sarah A. Collins and Jane Collins sick and on expense. Mar. 4, 1853: Preston to Lebanon. The notice sent you Dec. 13, 1852 had nothing to do with Mr. Jonathan Babcock, an inhabitant of your town. I find upon investigation that the mother of John Babcock was a native of your town. His father was a native of Rhode Island. They had 2 children: William & John. Her husband died when John was a year or two old; since then she has married a man by the name of Carpenter and lives in the town of Franklin. John's father not having settlement in this state, John takes his settlement after his mother. Therefore we look to Lebanon for reimbursement of expenses, boarding, doctoring and nursing the wife of John Babcock 4 weeks. Mar. 7, 1853: Norwich to Lebanon. Re the Collins family, how many sick and can they be moved? Mar. 9, 1853: Edward Snow and his wife are sick and on expense. Mar. 10, 1853: Lebanon to Norwich. Mr. Collins has been sick but is now improved, although the family is still on expense. All can be moved. Mar. 16, 1853: Lebanon to Norwich. Snow never belonged to this town; he is probably of Windham. Mar. 22, 1853: Lebanon to Colchester. Hannah Hyde, wife of Erastus Hyde, is sick at Mr. Ephraim Clark's; on expense. Mar. 23, 1853: Lebanon to Preston. It appears that John Babcock would belong to Franklin. Apr. 6, 1853: Bozrah to Lebanon. Henry Armstrong, his wife, and his children (Edgar, Isabella, Georgianna and William) are sick and on expense. Apr. 11, 1853: Lebanon to Colchester. Bill for support of Mrs. Hannah Hyde, who is still sick and on expense. Apr. 12, 1853: Montville to Lebanon. Stephen Brown and his wife, Francis Brown, Lucy Ann Brown and her infant illegitimate child, Henry Brown and Matilda Brown are on expense. Apr. 12, 1853: Lebanon to Bozrah. Have made every inquiry concerning Filmore and will not pay his bills. Apr. 13, 1853: Lebanon to Preston. After further inquiries about John Babcock, I am convinced he does not belong to this town. Sullard, John A. Sullard and Harriet N. Sullard are sick and on expense. Sept. 3, 1853: Bozrah to Lebanon. Pressed for payment of Ben Filmore bill. Sept. 8, 1853: Hartford Retreat to Lebanon. Jane Bennett, the patient you are supporting here, is in a quiet-demented and feeble condition so that she is more fit as an inmate of the alms house than of the retreat. As we are very overcrowded, I ask that you send for her a soon as possible. Sept. 28, 1853: Lisbon to Lebanon. Bill for support of Mrs. Lydia Osborn, June 17-Aug. 26 Nov. 2, 1853: Bozrah to Lebanon.
