Simmons) are on expense. Feb. 13, 1854: Bozrah to Lebanon. Bill for support of Ellen Simmons and her child, Josiah Simmons. Feb. 13, 1854: Lebanon to East Haddam. The child (at) Wheaton's does not belong to this town. Feb. 20, 1854: Colchester to Lebanon. Abby Jane Beckwith, wife of Francis Beckwith, and Esther M. Brown, illegitimate child of said Beckwith's wife, are on expense. Feb. 22, 1854: Lebanon to Colchester. Abby Jane Beckwith and her illegitimate child are not inhabitants of Lebanon. Apr. 17, 1854: Lisbon to Lebanon. Acknowledged payment from Lebanon for the support of Mrs. Lydia Osborn to Oct. 1, 1853; presented bill for her support Oct. 1 to Nov. 5, 1853 Apr. 21, 1854: Memorandum. Wish further particulars concerning circumstances and condition of Joshua B. Wattles. Jan. 29, 1855: Granby to Lebanon. Joshua B. Wattles left Lebanon many years ago. His mother is now living in Windsor, aged 93. She states that her husband, Joshua Wattles, died about 40 years ago, leaving her with 11 children, all born in Lebanon. Joshua B. Wattles, now aged 73, has never married, and has lived from place to place. No record of his ever having lived in one town for 6 years since he left Lebanon. He is now in our poor house; able to work some, but his eyesight is poor. (Note: Lebanon paid bill.) Feb. 6, 1855: Colchester to Lebanon. Amasa Hyde, his wife Rhena, and their children Dorus, Daniel, William and Harriet are on expense. Mar. 13, 1855: Lebanon to Waterford. The family of Joel Saunders, 8 in number, are on expense; Joel, Emily, Joseph A., George, Chester, Caroline, Edward L. and an infant not yet named. May 2, 1855: Norwich to Lebanon. Lucretia Gardner, wife of the late Frederick Gardner, a person of color, is sick and on expense. May 12, 1855: Lebanon to Waterford. Request for payment of bill for Abby Jane Beckwith and child May 21, 1855: Waterford to Lebanon. Request for further information. July 7, 1855: Montville to Lebanon. Joel Saunders, his wife and 6 children are on expense. Aug. 17, 1855: Montville to Lebanon. Joel Saunders moved his family into this town about June 30 and went away for 3 or 4 days, leaving them nothing to eat. We furnished them with supplies. They stayed about 10 days and left town. Oct. 8, 1855: Andover to Lebanon. Erastus Buck, his wife Eliza, and children Abby, Eunice and Mary Buck (colored) sick and on expense. Oct. 20, 1855: Erastus Buck and family are not inhabitants of this town. Dec. 28, 1855: Windham to Lebanon. William McGowan and Patrick McGowan are on expense. Jan. 29, 1856: Colchester to Lebanon. Amasa Hyde, his wife Ruhama, and children Dorcas, Daniel, and William on expense. Feb. 6, 1856: Lebanon to Stonington. Mary Potter, a colored woman, is on expense. Feb. 6, 1856: Preston to Lebanon. Edwin Snow on expense. Feb. 9, 1856: Lebanon to Preston. Edwin Snow not an inhabitant. Feb. 12, 1856: Stonington to Lebanon. Mary Potter, an inhabitant of our town, is in Lebanon without our knowledge. You can keep her until apring at fifty cents a week or get the person who brought her to Lebanon to bring her back. Mar. 5, 1856: Lebanon to Columbia. Mary Rollo and Eliza Rollo are on expense. Aug. 6, 1856: Burlington to Lebanon. A man by the name of George Rogers, son of Lovel Rogers, sick and on expense. Sept. 18, 1856: Bolton to Lebanon. Anson B. Bill is sick and on expense. Sept. 20, 1856: Lebanon to Stonington. Bill for support of Mary Potter Feb. 6-Sept. 10, 1856. Abby Beckwith, wife of Francis Beckwith, and Elisha Beckwith his child, and Esther Brown, daughter of Abby Beckwith before her marriage with said Beckwith, have been on expense ever since your town landed them in Colchester. A boy by the name of George Saunders sick and on expense. Nov. 17, 1857: George Peckham and his wife Jane and their child Nancy Peckhm are on expense. Nov. 23, 1857: Norwich to Lebanon. Bill for support of Ellen Simmons and child Feb. 8-June 22, 1853. Dec. 7, 1857: Lebanon to Colchester. George Peckham is not an inhabitant. Dec. 12,1857: Norwich to Lebanon. The widow of George W. Taylor and 4 chldren on expense. G.W. Taylor was born in your town, the son of Aried Taylor. George W. married the woman now his widow in Bozrahville, moved to New London and from there to Michigan, where he lived the past 10 or 12 years. His widow is now here with his mother; has been here about 3 weeks. Sick and on expense. Dec. 25, 1857: Hebron to Lebanon. Julius Bill, his wife and 4 children on expense. Dec. 26, 1857: Colchester to Lebanon. George Peckham, his wife Jane, and their child Nancy are on expense. You will find that by a law of 1847 they belong to your town.
