Granted liberty to Ebenezer Hills to build a small house in the highway where the selectmen shall direct, which said Hills and wife may hold for life. Dec. 24, 1750: Voted to allow Ebenezer Thomas liberty to continue the house he has set up on the west side of the highway above Mr. Taylor's; to improve during the town's pleasure. Voted to buy a horse for the town for the use of John Loomis of Andover and his family, not exceeding the price of L30 Dec. 11, 1752: Voted that Capt. Amos Spafford in his late lameness ought ti be considered one of the town poor; town to pay John Bulkeley Esq., Dr. Oliver Bulkeley & Dr. Nathaniel Little the costs of curing him. Voted to apply to the Governor for reimbursement of the account of Dr. John Clark & Pasco Hadlock for what they did for John Chesshunch, an indian man that fell in the fire, of which he died. Mindwell Janes' house to stand in the highway during the pleasure of the town. Jan. 23, 1753: Paid the account of Dr. Little as physician for the family of Capt. Amos Spafford in time of sickness; pay Col. John Bulkeley's bill (L90) for the cure of Capt. Amos Spafford in his late lameness; Dr. Oliver Bulkeley's bill (L73/2/3) for same Jan. 14, 1754: Leah Closson, wife of Nathan Closson, is a poor woman and now in Norwich with her youngest child taking the benefit of a room in the dwelling house of her late father, given to her in his will for the term of 8 years. She requested to stay there. The town agreed with Norwich to let her stay, Lebanon to take her if she needed support. Dec. 23, 1754: Voted to pay Dr. Clark L15/17/3 for his service done Lemuel Gustin and family in ye late sickness, said Gustin being one of the town's poor. Paid Dr. Clark for service for Edward Gray in his last sickness. Dec. 22, 1755: Paid for rum and sugar for Ebenezer Hill's family in sickness. Chloe Chappel, daughter of Noah Chappel, a transient person, is likely to be a charge. Dec. 14, 1756: Voted that the selectmen allow Capt. Samuel Huntington for the maintenance of Margaret Johnson and child about 3 years past, as much as they shall consider just above her. said Johnson's, labor for him. Town to pay John Watrous' bill for service to Lemuel Gustin's family in sickness before said family was taken into the care of the town. Dec. 10, 1759: Voted that the town pay the expenses of the late Ebenezer Loomis and family occasioned by his and their late sickness with the small pox (said Loomis having died with it lately) and the charges of William Dewey's sickness with the same. Dec. 8, 1760: Voted that the selectmen purchase of Stephen Harding Williams his right in the house standing on ye highway which was built for ye use of Mindwell Janes deceased. May 1, 1761: Elias Palmer, son of Nehemiah Palmer, by reason of epileptic fits is incapable to look after himself. Nehemiah Palmer is in reduced circumstances, and the matter is to be left to the discretion of the selectmen. Dec. 7, 1761: Voted to relieve John Finney of a certain fine for his neglecting to proceed with his company to the place of their destination, he then being a listed soldier under Captain Ebenezer Leach. Voted to examine Dr. Clark's account against the widow of Samuel Dewey. Dec. 13, 1762: Voted concerning Dr. Watrous' and Dr. Clark's accounts against Jared Ingraham for doctoring his family who have been long sick. Voted affirmative on Silas Swift's petition that the town pay him for providing for Ruth Tupper, a single woman who was delivered of a child at his house. Apr. 11, 1763: Left to discretion of the selectmen the payment to John Bartlett for keeping his sister Thankful Bartlett (an almost idiot), she having been under the care of the town until said John removed her with his family to Nova Scotia in the spring of 1760. Apr. 9, 1764: Petition of John Bartlett that his sister Thankful went to Nova Scotia with him in 1760, the town paying for one year's maintenance for her up there. Bartlett had given bond that he would make no further demnds on the town. Bartlett now requests to be relieved from that bond. Voted affirmative. Voted negative on the petition of Darius Waterman for payment for keeping about a year a bastard child born in his house of Ruth Thompson, daughter of Robert Thompson, late of this town, now of Nova Scotia. Also negative on his expense in sending to Fort Edward after Asa Richardson, the father, without success. May 8, 1764: Case of Darius Waterman v. Town to be tried in County Court in June next. Dec. 8, 1766: Town to pay doctor's bill for John Baldwin in his late distressing circumstances with a rupture. Dec. 7, 1767: Grace Harris, widow of Nathaniel Harris, who was a collector in 1760 but had died before he could turn over the monies, petitioned that she has been obliged to lease out her land for many years to pay the debt and shift for herself and children. Prayed release from the remainder of the debt, about L8/12. Voted affirmative. Dec. 12, 1768: Dr. Jonathan Huntington Jr. of Windham asked payment for doctoring William Lyman and Thomas Clark in their last sickess. Dr. Thomas Williams asked payment for doctoring John Machus (?), who was frozen in a terrible manner last winter. Considered Dr. David Strong's account for doctoring Tom Clark. Dec. 11, 1769: Ebenezer Webster petitioned that the town did not allow him enough for support of Ruth Ruth Thomas. Feb. 19, 1770: Town to sue whoever might be necessary for the support of the wife and child of Phinehas Strong, a minor apprentice in this town. Apr. 9, 1770: Voted to pay Dr. Clark for the care of Abner Bowers (?) and a child of Walter Woodworth, long distressed with a fever in his knees.
