        This volume contains a list alphabetically arranged of all
        of the vital records of the town of Voluntown from its
        incorporation to about 1850. This list was taken from a set
        of cards based on a copy of the Voluntown Vital Records
        made in 1910 by James N. Arnold, of Providence, R.I. The
        records here indexed are taken from the first three volumes
        of vital records. Every entry in the first two volumes has
        been indexed and in Volume 3 all births prior to December
        31, 1850, all marriages prior to December 31, 1850, and all
        of the deaths. The record of deaths ends with an entry
        bearing the date of December 5, 1867. The Arnold Copy, now
        in the possession of the Connecticut State Library, has not
        been compared with the original and doubtless errors exist.
        It is hoped that as errors or omissions are found notes
        will be entered in this volume and on the cards which are
        included in the General Index of Connecticut Vital Records
        also in the possession of the Connecticut State Library.
