Bertrand Robert E. Bertrand, 66, of Elm Street, Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Sula (Turner) Bertrand, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Bob was born in Hartford, son of the late Edward and Margaret (Eno) Bertrand, grew up in Windsor, and graduated from Newington High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and had been employed at ABB-CE Services from 1956 until his retirement two years ago. Bob's fondest activity was to play Santa Claus for as many children as possible at the holidays. He was a Packmaster with Pack 201, and Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 263. He also served for many years on the Windsor Locks Zoning Board of Appeals. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Sandra and Tom Nevins of Columbus, Ga., Stephen and Irene Bertrand of Southington, Michelle and James Kulas of Springfield, and Shelly and Raymond Gosselin of Colchester; 10 beloved grandchildren; and a stepbrother and his wife, Peter and Lee Dorering in New Hampshire. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, for a procession to St. Mary Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Windsor Locks. His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 20, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
