J. Edward Casey

Former Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut State Athletic Commision, 
J. Edward Casey, 70, of 15 Freemont Rd., Enfield, died Dec 15 in Mercy
Hospital, Springfield.  Born in Hampden, he lived in Enfield most of his life.
He was a past Grand Knight and honorary member of Washington Council 50, 
Knights of Columbus; an honorary and retired member of the Thompsonville
Fire Department; former police commisioner; member of the Democratic Town
Committee, and a former coach of the Bigelow - Sanford and local semi-professional
baseball and basketball teams.  He was a retired inspector at the former
Bigelow - Sanford Carpet Co.  He leaves three sons, Dr. Edward J. of the Bronx, N.Y., 
and William J. and James P., both of Enfield.  The funeral was Dec 19 at Leete
Funeral Home, with a liturgy of Christian burial in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.
