Coughlin Edward W. Coughlin, 73, beloved husband of Joan (Rice) Coughlin of South Windsor, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Feeding Hills, Mass., on Dec. 15, 1927, he had lived in Lynnfield, Mass., for 40 years before moving to South Windsor two years ago. Mr. Coughlin graduated from Concord High School, Concord, Mass., in 1947. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 712th Railroad Battalion as a sergeant. He was a lifetime NRA member. Besides his wife, he leaves two loving daughters, Beth Coughlin of South Windsor and Patricia and her husband, Steven Goldblatt, of South Windsor; a grandson, Ian Goldblatt; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield. His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at the funeral home.
