John Chessari S. John Chessari, 80, of Tolland, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Hartford Hospital. He was the be-loved husband of Gini (Henderson) Chessari, and the most loving father of his sons, Chris and Craig. He was born May 1, 1920, to Joseph and Concetta (Xifo) Chessari in North Tarrytown, N.Y. As a boy, in the early morning hours, John delivered bread made by his father in the family brick oven bakery. As a young man he had his own band, and was offered scholarships by two music conservatories. He chose instead to have a career in engineering, and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He served four years in the U.S. Army Air Force as a communication captain during World War II. John worked in the construction industry for many years, and built both commercial and residential projects, including St. Matthew Church in Tolland. He is a past president of the Rockville Area Chamber of Commerce. He continued his long career until the past new year. He loved the New York Yankees, the game of golf, and spent many happy years playing with the Tolland Seniors. He is also survived by his dearly loved grandchildren, Lauren and Alex, and his daughters-in-law, Deb and Linnie. The family invites you to join them from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, as we mourn John's passing, and celebrate his life.
