TITLE: John Coleman, Obituary, May 25, 2001 SUBMITTERS: Journal Inquirer Manchester,CT (issue May 29, 2001) FORMATTED: ABishop, Sept 2001 ************************************************************************************************ COLEMAN John Coleman, 99, of Enfield, husband of 60 years of the late Margaret Esther (Donoghue) Coleman (1988), died Friday, May 25, 2001, at St. Joseph Residence, Enfield. John was born April 6, 1902, in Bargeddie, Scotland. He resided in New York for most of his life and was a resident of the Enfield community since 1997. John was employed at Joyce Seven-UP of New York in New Rochelle for 25 years, retiring in 1972. He was later employed with Co-op City as a maintenance supervisor in Bronx, N.Y., and retired in 1983. He was a very prolific writer and poet, with many of his works having been published. John is survived by his beloved daughter, Margaret Healy of Enfield; his son, John Coleman Jr. of Lynbrook, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Veronica, and her husband, Jack Hughes; nine grandchildren, Kathy, George, Jean, Mary, Meg, Danny, Bernadette, Janis, and Kimberly; and 13 great-grandchildren. John also leaves many nieces and nephews in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. He was predeceased by his son, George Coleman (1994); five brothers; and two sisters. John's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at the St. Joseph Residence Chapel, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, followed by burial in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at St. Joseph Residence. Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels is caring for the arrangements.
