CUMMING

Jean (Copeland) Cumming, 87, of 19 Turnpike Road, Somers, died at her home Tuesday, 
May 1, 2001.

She was born in Taftville on May 8, 1913, the daughter of the late Hugh F. and 
Mary Ann (Crawford) Copeland. She was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, Class of 1929, 
and a graduate of Willimantic Normal School, Class of 1931. She was a retired school teacher, 
having worked in the Norwich public school system for 35 years. She was a member of Taftville 
Congregational Church. She married Gordon G. Cumming on April 27, 1952, at Taftville 
Congregational Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne C. Watrous of Somers; three grandchildren, Kate, Amanda, 
and Grant Watrous; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cumming predeceased her.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, in Hickory Street Cemetery, Norwich.

Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Home & Community Health Services, 
140 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082.
