Day, 82, of West Hartford died Saturday, May 12, 2001. Born in Meriden, the daughter of the late Christopher and Frances (Egan) Day, she made her home in Meriden until moving to the McAuley in West Hartford in 1989. During her 13 years at the McAuley she volunteered as floor representative and for the social committee. She also volunteered at Mercyknoll for eight years, St. Joseph College Early Child Center for four years, and participated in the Foster Grandparent Life Program at St. Joseph College. Mary worked at Aetna Insurance in Hartford for 35 years, and was a parishioner at St. Rose Church in Meriden. She enjoyed reading, travel, working the computer, and being with her family. She is survived by her sister, Julie McKone of Danielson; her niece, JoAnne Beauvais and her husband, Louis, of Dayville; her nephew, Patrick McKone and his wife, Angela, of Vernon; and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Stacey and Michael Miller, Ed and Jen Beauvais, Charles Beauvais, Brian McKone, and Marianne Beauvais. The funeral will be held beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at St. Mary Home, 2021 Albany Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the chapel of St. Mary Home. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Molloy Funeral Home, West Hartford, has care of arrangements.
