TITLE: Thomas Pasquale DeCandia, Obituary, April 4, 2003 SUBMITTERS: Journal Inquirer Manchester,CT (issue April 7, 2003) FORMATTED: ABishop, April 2003 ***************************************************************************** DECANDIA Thomas Pasquale DeCandia, "Tommy D," 60, passed away peacefully at home Friday, April 4, 2003, after losing his courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 29, 1942, in Manchester, he was the son of Pasquale (Patsy) and Mildred (Lauritzen) DeCandia. Tom lived in Coventry for the past 48 years. For many years, Tom was co-owner and Vice President of Colonial Motors (Texaco) of Coventry along with his good friend, the late Norman Mawdsley, and presently owned T&C Specialty Products. He was a 1960 graduate of Windham High School. Tom leaves his wife Cheryl (Tyree); son Mark DeCandia and his wife, Julie, of Chaplin; daughters, Christina McClintock and her husband, Dan, of Windham, Laurie Cunningham and her husband, John, of Willimantic, and Caroline Miclette of Coventry; brothers, George and his wife Roberta DeCandia of Manchester, John Aniello and Victor Shargai of Washington, D.C. Tom was predeceased by his sister Eleanor Noto, and brother Ronald DeCandia. "Papa" will be sadly and forever missed by his grandchildren, Kelly and Thomas Berwick of Coventry, Ryan and Chase DeCandia of Chaplin, and John Robert and Sierra Lynn Cunningham of Willimantic. Tom also leaves many nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 1171 Main St., Coventry, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Coventry. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 8 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Coventry Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike (Route 44), Coventry. Memorial donations may be made in Tom's name to Storrs Regional FFA Alumni, 1235 Storrs Road, Agriculture Department, Storrs, CT 06268. *********************************************** Copyright.
