TITLE: David Field Dwyer, Obituary, March 28, 2003 SUBMITTERS: Journal Inquirer Manchester,CT (issue March 29, 2003) FORMATTED: ABishop, March 2003 ***************************************************************************** DWYER David Field Dwyer, Deacon of St. Margaret Mary Church, beloved husband of Phyllis (Andersen) Dwyer, of South Windsor, died Friday, March 28, 2003 at a local nursing home. Born in Braintree, MA on August 17, 1931, son of the late, Kevin B. Dwyer and Norma (Field) Dwyer, he had lived in South Windsor since 1966. Before retiring he was employed by CIGNA for ten years and prior to that for 20 years at the Savings Bank of Manchester. David was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was an EMT for the Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was a Deacon for the Archdiocese of Hartford and had served at St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor before being transferred to St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Besides his wife, Phyllis he leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen A. and Janet K. Dwyer of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Darcy T. Dwyer of Vernon; four brothers, Kevin and his wife Jane Dwyer of Salem, MA, Rev. Vincent Dwyer of Naples, FL, Laurence Dwyer of Murryville, PA, and Raymond and his wife Carol Dwyer of Hingham, MA; four grandchildren, Erika and Tara Norbut and Zachary and Jeremy Dwyer, and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Mark A. Dwyer and his stepmother Elizabeth (Welch) Dwyer. David's body will be received Monday 3:30 p.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Dr., South Windsor, followed by calling hours from 4 to 6:30 p.m. A parish Mass will be celebrated Monday at 7 p.m. by Rev. Daniel J. Sullivan, Pastor of St. Margaret Mary Church. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will Tuesday 10 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, with the Rev. Daniel J. Sullivan and Rev. Vincent Dwyer, officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, South Windsor. Because of the Lenten season, the request for memorial donations should be in lieu of flowers and made to St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Dr., South Windsor, 06074 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
