Rip was born in Mystic and settled here many years ago. He retired in 1976 from Warren Woolen in Stafford. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve (Theberge) Fontanella; two sons, Richard Fontanella of Monson, Mass., and Dennis Fontanella of Columbia; three daughters, Nancy Emhoff, Joan Comeralla, and Doreen (Fontanella) Pajak, all of Stafford; two sisters, Lena Foley and Helen Fontanella, also of Stafford; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at graveside with his family today, April 9, in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs. Tocchetti Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Stafford Springs, had charge of arrangements.
