Ference, 74, of Tolland, husband of 48 years of Patricia (Lanagan) Ference, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at a local convalescent home. He was born in Stafford Springs and was a longtime Tolland resident. Before his retirement he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Mr. Ference was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Ference of Tolland and Ronald and Sally Ference of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his brothers, Andrew Ference, Francis Ference, and Raymond Ference, all of Stafford Springs; his sister, Dorothy Martin of California; and his granddaughters, Lynn, Lisa, Melissa, and Patricia. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, May 11, at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road (Route 195), Tolland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, Tolland, Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs.
