"Jerry" Gaouette Sr., 61, of Storrs, formerly of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Sandra D. (Boyington) Gaouette, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at his home. He was born May 29, 1939, in Hartford, son of the late Homer and Harriet (Warner) Gaouette Sr. and had lived in Manchester most of his life before moving to Storrs five years ago. Mr. Gaouette served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and prior to his retirement he had been a mechanic with the Triple A Transportation Co. in Rocky Hill. Jerry was an avid NASCAR enthusiast. He was a loving father to his three children, Leslie Holda and her husband, Michael, of Tolland, Gerald F. Gaouette Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Vergennes, Vt., Kelly Hickson and her husband, Fred, of Portland; his cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Elizabeth; two sisters, Elaine Stephens of New Britain and Mary Cowperthwaite of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Homer Gaouette Jr. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 E. Center St., Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday, May 11, at the funeral home.
