Born in Trenton, N.J., son of Emily (Redfearn) Hepner of Windsor and the late Leonard Hepner, he graduated from Lawrenceville School, Princeton, N.J., and received his bachelor of science degree from Yale University in 1957 and his master's degree from Case Western Reserve in 1965. Philip was employed as a professional engineer at Combustion Engineering, ABB Westinghouse, and was a nuclear consultant engineer with CDI in Kobe, Japan. He was a longtime member of the American Nuclear Society Facilities Standards Committee. He was a member of the Southport Yacht Club, Southport, Maine, and the Suffield Paddle Club, and a former member of the Suffield zoning board. Besides his wife and mother, he leaves a son, Robinson H. Hepner of Suffield; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ruth Hepner of Wilmington, N.C.; a nephew, Richard and his wife, Angie Hepner; a niece, Deborah and her husband, Arthur O'Connor; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Gardner of Rochester, N.Y. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Second Baptist Church, 100 N. Main St., Suffield, with the Rev. Paul Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Suffield. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St., Suffield.
