Jacques, 81, of Enfield, and beloved husband of Anna (Breault) Jacques), died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Hartford Hospital. Armand was born on June 17, 1919, in Quebec, Canada. Armand was an aerial ladder truck driver for the Hartford Fire Department for 27 years before retiring in 1976. Armand lived in Hartford until he moved to Enfield in 1977. Prior to his duty as a firefighter, Armand rode for the rodeo before World War II, and was known as Spike Malone. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Besides his loving wife, he leaves two sons, Ernest J. Jacques Sr. and his wife, Margaret, of Wallingford and Thomas E. Jacques Sr. and his wife, Linda, of Enfield; a daughter, Roseann Ditomaso and her husband, Joseph, of Westwood, Mass.; three sisters, Sr. Reine Jacques of Lowell, Mass., Millie Olson of Windsor Locks, and Rollande Haberman of Enfield; seven grandchildren, Lorraine, Ernest Jr., Thomas Jr., Lisa, Amanda, Cara, and Amy. A funeral service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the funeral home.
