Jordan, 73, a longtime resident of South Windsor and 116 School St., Taftville, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Harrington Court Genesis Eldercare in Colchester. He was born in Charlestown, R.I. on Sept. 28, 1927, the son of the late William and Harriet (Oatley) Jordan. Mr. Jordan was owner and founder of Ed Jordan's Carpet Place in Vernon, having operated the business for more than 30 years before retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Taftville, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Manchester Lodge of Elks, a life member of the Myrtle Beach S.C. Lodge of Elks, and a former member of the Lions Club of Manchester. On Feb. 17, 1947, he married Eileen (Curran) Jordan in Shannock, R.I. Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Raymond Jordan of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Celia Rathbone of Westerly, R.I., Dorothy Batiste of Winter Park, Fla., Arline Gardner of Wyoming, R.I., and Beverly Almeida of Wakefield, R.I.; his children and their spouses, Glenn and Macy Jordan of Manchester, William and Patricia Jordan of Chaplin, Ted and Carey Jordan of Storrs, Pamela and Gary Kinel of Taftville, and Susan Jordan of Sag Harbor, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Sacred Heart Church, Taftville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich. There are no calling hours. Guillot Funeral Home, 75 So. B. St., Taftville, is in charge of arrangements.
