She was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Frank and Aurora Whitehead. Before her retirement, she was an assistant clerk at Vernon Superior Court in Rockville for over 30 years. Shirley loved animals, especially her dog, Willie. She is survived by her nephews and their spouses, Frank and Laurie Whitehead of Coventry, Charles and Jean Whitehead of Tolland, Philip Whitehead and Kate Toohey of Newton, Mass., and Robert and Laura Whitehead of Vernon. She was a great aunt to several great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she lovingly cared for at times: Frank, Liam, Emily, Colin, Brian, Gregory, Kyle, Dennis, Kyra, Nolan, Anne, Sharon, and Olivia; and two great-grandnephews, Pablo and Dylan; a brother, Frank Whitehead, of Englewood, Fla; and several other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving sister-in-law and friend, Shirley Whitehead. Funeral services will be today, May 26, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Vernon. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Putnam, at 12:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.
