Kerr Vernet E. "Lucky" Kerr, 73, of Vernon, beloved husband of the late Mary (Chowanec) Kerr, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at home after a truly successful life. Born in Canada, he was the son of the late John and Mary Kerr and had lived in the Vernon area for most of his life. He was employed with Capitol Tire for many years and most recently retired from TEK Electric. Lucky was an accomplished steel guitar player who performed with many country and western bands. He was also a member of the New England Air Museum, where he was able to keep involved with flying. He always will be remembered for his smile, with which everyone he saw was greeted. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his three children, Sandi LaChapelle and her fiance, Russell Johndrow, Donna Kerr, and William Kerr and his wife, Kathleen; his grandchildren, Walter, Marc, Brian, and Michelle Kerr, and Corrine LaChapelle; and a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Eleanor Kerr of Canada. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Erica. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at Ladd-Turkington Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Burial will follow in West Street Cemetery, Columbia. Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the funeral home.
