She was born in Stafford Springs, the daughter of the late George and Lillian (Gehouleau) Lester. Evelyn was a retired secretary who had worked at the University of Connecticut in the administration offices. She was a former member of St. Edward Parish, Stafford Springs, and a member of the Newton County Senior Center in Jasper. Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Elizabeth LaBonte of Jasper; two grandchildren, Greg and Courtney LaBonte; a great-grandson, Alex Brandon LaBonte; a brother, George Lester of Stafford Springs; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Introvigne Funeral Home Inc., 51 E. Main St., Stafford Springs, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edward Church, High Street, Stafford Springs. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the funeral home.
