"Tucky" Lucas Jr. Charles T. "Tucky" Lucas Jr., 76, of Manchester, husband of the late Ruth (Stevens) Lucas, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the State Veteran's Home and Hospital in Rocky Hill. Born in Enfield, July 10, 1924, son of the late Charles and Susan (Torak) Lucas, he lived most of his life in Manchester and had been a resident of Storrs for several years. Prior to retiring Tucky had been a driver for various freight trucking companies for more than 35 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 559. He was a veteran of the World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2046 of Manchester. He is survived by a brother and three sisters, Raymond Lucas of Tampa, Fla., Dorothy Lucas of Deep River, Edna Chaunic of Columbia, and Margaret Hoffman of East Hartford; his sister-in-law, Rita Lucas of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. Tucky also leaves his close friends, William Pagani, Jane Rossitto, and Judy Knowles. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Fritz Lucas. Tucky would have wanted a special "thank you" said to the nurses and staff at the State Veteran's Hospital and also at Manchester Manor for being a very important part of his life. A prayer service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial with military honors will be in the Hillstown Roads Veterans Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service, Tuesday, April 10, at the funeral home.
