TITLE: Frederick LaGrange Jr., Obituary, Oct 31, 1942 SUBMITTERS: Thompsonville Press Enfield, CT (issue Nov 5, 1942) FORMATTED: ABishop, Apr 2001 ***************************************************************************** Frederick LaGrange Jr. Largely attended funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon for Frederick LaGrange, Jr., 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick LaGrange, 63 Asnuntuck Street. Services were conducted at 2:30 in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Rev. Francis R. Belden officiating. Bearers were Michael Angelica, Thomas Cammilleri, Homer Fournier, Albert LaGrange, Thomas Starr and John Sullivan. Burial was in the Enfield Street Cemetery. The youth was drowned Saturday in the Connecticut River when a rowboat capsized and hurled him and three hunting companions into the water. His companions, John Willby, 14m of Fairview Avenue, and Homer Fournier, 15, of Spring Street, managed to swim 150 yards to shore, but LaGrange, apparently handicapped by the filling of his hip boots with water made little progress before going down. LaGrange was born in Thompsonville Dec. 22, 1925, son of Frederick and Mary (Kelley) LaGrange. Of late he had been employed as a mechanic's helper at the Armory in Springfield.
