Littlefield George M. Littlefield, 72, of Buckley Hill Road, Colchester, died the evening of Good Friday, April 13, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Presque Isle, Maine, son of the late Robert and Lillian (Pendexter) Littlefield. Mr. Littlefield proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He wed Patricia Mae Godfrey on Dec. 11, 1954, in Hartford. Mrs. Littlefield survives him. He was employed by Adley-Yellow Express for many years as a truck driver before his retirement. With the Teamsters Local 671, he served as recording secretary and union president. While living in East Hartford, he was a member of the Hose Company 2 and enjoyed coaching baseball and football. He also found great joy in fishing and great family gatherings, where he was affectionately known as "Sarge." Mr. Littlefield was a member of Westchester Congregational Church. In addition to his loving wife of 46 years, he is survived by four children, Lynn Littlefield of Colchester, Debra and her husband, Robert Hopkins, of East Hartford, Robert and his wife, Jeanne Littlefield, of Gilead, and Suzanne McGinnis of East Hartford; a sister, Betty Carr of South Windsor; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Ray Carr of Glastonbury; numerous extended family members; and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Laurel, and two infant sisters. A funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Westchester Congregational Church, Route 149, with the Rev. Fred M. Dole officiating. Interment will follow in the West-chester Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester.
