Richard served in the U.S. Army during World War II and obtained the rank of major. He worked at Pratt & Whitney for 32 years as a general foreman, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Manchester Senior Citizens and was an avid golfer. He was gentleman and a gentle man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mac spent the last few years of his life enjoying the companionship and the kind and loving people at the Jefferson House, East Hartford. He leaves his devoted wife of 60 years, Mildred C. (Blais) McNamara; and two children, Richard McNamara and his wife Gina, of Texas and two grandsons, Ryan and Devlin, and his daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Jon Bertus of Vernon. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, followed by burial with full military honors in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the funeral home.
