Mahoney, 87, of Manchester and Cape Cod, the beloved husband of Mary Rita (Dwyer) Mahoney, died Friday (April 4, 2003) at the Suffield House. Born in Boston, the son of the late John F. and Mary (Minehan) Mahoney, he lived in Manchester since 1965 and since his retirement he lived in both Manchester and Cape Cod, Mass. Gerard was a 1938 graduate of Boston University, a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, and a retired accountant who worked for the U.S. Government in the Department of Defense. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church Manchester. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul T. and Susan Mahoney of Feeding Hills, Mass., and their children, Christine Mahoney and Karen Fletcher; his daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Michael Brady of Stow, Mass., his daughter, Mary Ann Mahoney of Manchester and her son, Thomas Cadden; a sister, Margaret Antell of Haverhill, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Mary Mahoney, of Mansfield, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John F. Mahoney. Funeral Service will be Tuesday (April 8, 2003) 10:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, Manchester. Burial will be private in Massachusetts at a later date. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Arthritis Foundation, 35 Cold Spring Road, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. *********************************************** Copyright.
