It is always best to consult the original material for verification. ************************************************************************ ***************************************************************************** MAHR Irene (Kurek) Mahr, 83, of Coventry, beloved wife of John Mahr Sr., died Monday, May 14, 2001, at her home in Coventry surrounded by her loving family after a long a courageous battle with cancer. Irene was born April 30, 1918, in Stafford Springs, daughter of the late John and Mary (Sajgal) Kurek and had been a resident of Coventry for the past 44 years. Irene was a member of St. Mary Church in Coventry and a charter member of Skungamaug Golf Club. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John F. and Susan (Welles) Mahr of Lebanon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol M. Bonanno of Manchester and Kathleen M. and Kenneth Morgan of Coventry; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, John and Brad Kurek Jr. of Simsbury and Frank and Lena Kurek of Stafford Springs; six grandchildren, Jennifer Aitken and her husband, Donald, of Hampton, Alison Goldstein and her husband, Jeremy, of Lebanon, David Bonanno of Coventry, Michael Bonanno and his wife, Rachel, of Manchester, and Kenneth Jr. and Adam Morgan of Coventry; three great-grandchildren, John and Donald Aitken of Hampton and Megan Goldstein of Lebanon; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Lazzaris and Margaret Kashady. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, at the Coventry Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike (Route 44), Coventry. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Coventry. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the funeral home.
