She was born April 3, 1907, in Holyoke, Mass., and graduated from Brown University in 1928. At the time of her death she was a permanent resident of Sarasota, Fla., and a longtime summer resident of Misquamicut, R.I. Mrs. Gladys Murphey was predeceased by her husband, Horace Murphey, a former superintendent of parks and recreation in Manchester; a brother-in-law, Francis Mahoney, who was a former mayor of Manchester; and another brother-in-law, Lincoln Murphey and his wife, Doris. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lucille Mahoney of Misquamicut; four nieces, Susan Broneill and her husband, Robert, of Tolland, Nancy Mooney and her husband, Mark, of Middlebury, Vt., Lynne Yampanis and her husband, Theodore, of Vernon, and Janice Starkweather of Ellington; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in East Cemetery, Manchester. *********************************************** Copyright.
