Murphy III, 65, the husband of Linda (Facchetti) Murphy, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Manchester Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Rooney) Murphy, he had lived in Manchester before moving to Lebanon 22 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and had worked at H & B Tool of South Windsor until his retirement. Tom was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Donna Wallace and her husband, Michael, and stepsons Sheldon and Justin, Kevin Murphy and his wife, Lori and their daughters, Tara and Shawna, Bob Murphy and his wife, Dawn and their son, Zachary, all of Lebanon, and his daughter, Lisa Murphy and her companion, Doug LaCombe, and daughters Shanda and Taylor of Maine. He is also survived by his sisters, Eileen Greenwood, Monica Packer, and Vera Snyder and her husband, Joe; and his brothers and their spouses, Sean and Stella Murphy, and Desmond and Joanne Murphy; and several nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, May 7, from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, Main Street, Manchester, with burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tom's name may be made to the John DeQuattro Community Cancer Center, 71 Haynes St., Manchester, CT 06040. *********************************************** Copyright.
