Pecott, 30, of East Hartford, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Hartford Hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born on Jan. 25, 1971, in Waterbury, he had been a lifelong resident of East Hartford. He was a loving son of Robert A. and Jan S. Pecott of East Hartford. He was a 1989 graduate of George J. Penney High School, East Hartford and a former member of the East Hartford Police Explorers. He was employed for the past eight years by the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections as a corrections officer. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for more than six years. Besides his parents, Derek is survived by a brother, Darrel M. Pecott and his significant other, Jennifer L. Moreau, both of Ellington; a sister, Janine M. Pecott and her fiance, Kham Khongkham, both of Enfield; his maternal grandmother, Mary Sukoloski of Kingwood, Texas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call from noon to 2 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the funeral home.
