(Safford) Pagani, 70, of North Windham and formerly of Manchester, wife of Nicholas H. Pagani, passed into eternal peace Monday, May 7, 2001, with her family by her side after she fought a courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Alan and Lora (Griffin) Safford, she was born May 31, 1930, in Barre, Vt. Alice moved to Manchester in 1949 and lived there until moving to North Windham 10 years ago. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by four daughters, Terry Violette and her husband, Marc, of Manchester, Cheryl Soares of Bristol, N.H., and her fiance, Mark Danforth, Dawn Scables and her husband, Robert, of Coventry, and Sandra Grenier and her husband, Scott, of Manchester; her son, Mark Pagani and his wife, Sandie, of Alexandria, N.H.; two brothers, Ralph Safford of Graniteville, Vt., and Orion Safford of Southington; a sister-in-law, Justine (Pagani) Wylie of Fairhaven, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Robbins, Margaret Stacy, and Elizabeth Reilly; and a brother, Billy Safford. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, May 9, at the funeral home.
