(Gifford) Rabbett Sally M. (Gifford) Rabbett, 80, of Spring Street, Windsor Locks, beloved wife of the late Mandell W. Rabbett, departed this life peacefully Sunday morning, April 29, 2001, at Kettle Brook Healthcare Center. Sally was born in West Suffield, April 22, 1921, the seventh of eight children born to the late John and Florence (Field) Gifford, and had lived in Windsor Locks most of her life. Sally's love for children was evident by her employment for 47 years as a cafeteria aide and later at Windsor Locks High School as a secretary in the office, and as a teachers aide at North Street School until her illness three weeks ago. She also was the Republican Deputy Registrar of Voters. She is survived by her daughter, Republican Registrar of Voters in Windsor Locks Sandra Hebert and her husband, Charles, of Windsor Locks; her beloved sister, Nellie Gifford, with whom she made her home; her two loving grandchildren, Mark Hebert and his wife, Monique, of Enfield, and Lisa Hebert and her fiance, James Schneider, of Somers; her great-granddaughter, Nicole Hebert of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, William, Joseph, and John Gifford, and three sisters, Josephine Jacobs, Alice Girard, and Florence Wethington. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, with the Rev. Kevin Flannery officiating. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery. Sally's family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the funeral home.
