Roberts Wilfred J. Roberts, 85, husband of the late Virginia (Burnham) Roberts of North Haverhill, N.H., formerly of South Windsor, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, in New Hampshire. Born in Norwich on July 18, 1915, son of the late George and Nora (O'Connell) Roberts, he had lived in South Windsor before moving to North Haverhill 25 years ago. Before retiring, he was employed by SNET for many years. He was a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, a member of SNET Pioneers, and enjoyed fly fishing and hunting. He is survived by two sons, James Roberts and Diane Morin of Glastonbury and David and his wife, Sandy Roberts, of Durham; two daughters, Kay and her husband, Harvey Bister, of Suffield, and Barbara and her husband, Donald Mader, of South Windsor; a brother and his wife, George and Carol Roberts of Norwich; three sisters, Helen Roberts of Hartford, Mary Champagne of Norwich, and Mildred Roy of Noank; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Beatrice Hunt. Family and friends may gather at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a blessing at St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor. Burial will be in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the funeral home.
