TITLE: Eugene John Roszczewski, Obituary, May 7, 2001 SUBMITTERS: Journal Inquirer Manchester,CT (issue May 8, 2001) FORMATTED: ABishop, June 2001 ***************************************************************************** ROSZCZEWSKI Eugene John Roszczewski, 87, of Ellington, husband of Lucyna (Bloniarz) Roszczewski, died peacefully Monday, May 7, 2001, at a local convalescent home. He was born in Rockville on June 24, 1913, the first son of William and Mary (Kogutowicz) Roszczewski. He lived in Ellington most of his life, in the house that he lovingly built for his family. He was a devout communicant of St. Joseph Church, Rockville, where he was a member of the St. Michael Society and the St. Joseph Society, and he sang in the church choir with his wife. He was a graduate of Rockville High School and served in the armed forces during World War II. He was employed at the Stevens Company in Rockville, the Aldon Spinning Mills in Talcottville, and Rice Packaging in Ellington. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne Ann and Jonathan Scherff of Lebanon; his sons and daughters-in-law, David of Ellington, Mark and Rose of Stafford Springs, Greg and Kathleen of Vernon; his five grandchildren, Jason, Aaron, Bridget, Catherine, and Joshua; a great-granddaughter, Madeline; and his sister, Anne Rachowicz of West Willington. The funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, from the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, May 8, at the funeral home.
