TITLE: Rudolph Gustaf Rossing Jr., Obituary, May 27, 2001 SUBMITTERS: Journal Inquirer Manchester,CT (issue May 29, 2001) FORMATTED: ABishop, Sept 2001 ************************************************************************************************ ROSSING Rudolph Gustaf Rossing Jr., 88, of Sky Ridge Drive, Somers, beloved husband of Rita (Remy) Rossing, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, in Stafford. Born in Fitchburg, Mass., son of the late Rudolph G. and Wilhelmina (Miller) Rossing Sr., he had lived in Springfield for most of his life. He received an associate's degree from the University of Michigan. Rudolph had been a resident of the Somers community for the past 41 years, and was a communicant of All Saints Church. He was employed by the New England Door Closer Co. of West Springfield for more than 40 years, and upon retirement he remained with the company for several more years as a part-time sales consultant. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 9th Infantry Division and attained the rank of staff sergeant during the Rhineland Campaign. In addition to Rita, his wife of 60 years, Rudolph is survived by his daughter, Ellyn Rossing-Gaynor, and her husband, Howard; and a grandson, his pride and joy, Matthew Gaynor, all of North Granby. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, at All Saints Church, Somersville. Burial with military honors will follow in Somers Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., has care of arrangements.
