Rutherford, 66, of Manchester, husband of Judith M. (Burkhardt) Rutherford, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Waddington, N.Y., son of the late Erwin and Mary (Pike) Rutherford, and had been a resident of Manchester since 1957. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and prior to his retirement he had been employed with Wonder Bread for many years. Mr. Rutherford was an avid 10-pin bowler and had been a coach with the Youth Bowling League at Vernon Lanes. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, David Rutherford of Coventry; his daughter, Kimberly Broughal of Broad Brook; a grandson, Matthew Potts, also of Broad Brook; seven sisters, Fern Pearson, Lois Pernice, Una Peterson, Jean Flynn, Bette Carvel, Irma Grant, and Dorothy Wing, all of upstate New York; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the funeral home.
