Saccuzzo Santo R. Saccuzzo, 76, of Vernon, beloved husband of 43 years to Rita (Rossignol) Saccuzzo, died peacefully Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at home. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Carmelo and Mary (Latina) Saccuzzo and resided in Vernon for 35 years. For 35 years he was an elementary school teacher in the Hartford school system, retiring in 1992. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He will be dearly missed by his loving family. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Michael Saccuzzo of Vernon; and three daughters, Laura Shugrue of Rocky Hill, Jean Beebe and her husband, Thomas, of Salem, and Paula Saccuzzo of Framingham, Mass.; five grandchildren, Patrick, Matthew, and Christopher Shugrue, and Kate and Jennifer Beebe; a sister, Mary Siok of Rocky Hill; and three brothers, Richard Saccuzzo of Farmington, Ralph Saccuzzo of Oregon, and Joseph Saccuzzo of Florida. A funeral service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Sacred Heart Church, Route 30, Vernon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Everyone is asked to go directly to church Friday morning. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 26, at Sacred Heart Church in the Oratory Room of the Parish Center. Ladd-Turkington Funeral Home, Vernon, has charge of arrangements.
